Dylan Vicioso is a dedicated Police K9 Officer and Trainer, serving alongside his partner, K9 Lira, with a focus on explosive detection, public safety, and veteran advocacy.


The Interview
Question 1 - Where were you born?
Dylan - Florida USA.
Question 2 - What school(s) did you attend?
Dylan - The Community College of the Air Force.
Question 3 - What did you do after graduating?
Dylan - I went to the United States Air Force.
Question 4 - What was your first job?
Dylan - Tactical Aircraft Maintenance F16 Crew Chief and later trained to Security Forces and became a Combat Arms Instructor.
Question 5 - What do you do for a living?
Dylan - I am a Police K9 Officer.
Question 6 - What inspired you to pursue your job?
Dylan -Â Continue to protect and serve our communities. Using a K9 partners nose to defend our homeland, cities and people. My partner K9 Lira is a 6 year old Belgian Mal, certified in explosive detection. We are certified team by the ATF, USPCA, and NAPWDA. Together we have provided detection and deterrence for Federal installations, Dignitaries, multiple cities within Miami Dade County and thousands of hours searching at concerts, festivals and community events. After getting off active duty and transitioning to the reserves, like many veterans I was unsure what to do or where to go. Working with a Police dog is a special experience and the bond you build living, training, working, searching, learning, cleaning, driving etc with our partners is a powerful one. A once and a lifetime gig. I'm grateful for it. These Police dogs are dynamic, loyal and remind us what selfless service looks like day in and day out.

Question 8 - What are some of your achievements?
Dylan -Â I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout within the Boy Scouts of America. A Gracie Barra Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I served 12 years in the United States Air Force. Receiving 3 Achievement medals and 1 Accommodation medal with multiple deployments. Currently serving in the Air Force Reserve Command as a Security Forces Combat Arms Instructor. I served as a Federal Reserve Police Officer and K9 Handler. Now working full time as Police K9 Officer at the Golden Beach Police Department, within Miami Dade County. My partner K9 Lira is an outstanding Police dog and has held 5 National and Federal Explosive Detection Certifications.
Question 9 - What are your goals and aspirations?
Dylan - To help however I can. To learn more, love more, and forgive more. To work hard and pray harder. Serve the public honorably as a Police Officer and Airman. Prevent catastrophic events, loss of human life, using my K9 partners nose. Build a business. Compete in tactical shooting sports.
Question 10 - Is there anything else you would like to say to our veteran community and customers?Dylan -Â I wear Black Mod 2s every shift. They keep my feet dry, look sharp and give me full mobility as a Police K9 handler. Veterans are incredible people. After our service, it can be hard to get back on the horse and find a path. You are an asset, you are valuable, you are loved. No matter where you go or what you choose to do, never give up. We need more men and women like you.
